About the material
All fossils are remineralized — the original organic bone is long gone, replaced over millions of years by stone that preserved its structure. So this is real T. rex and a real fossil, and chemically it's the fossilized stone everyone recognizes.
The fragments we use are the scraps dig sites produce in quantity: pieces museums have no interest in and researchers have no use for. They'd otherwise sit in a box in the dark.
